Priority services

 

Are you eligible for free services? If you are either:

  • Aged over 60 or

  • Chronically sick or

  • Disabled or

  • Sight-impaired or blind or

  • Hearing-impaired or deaf

… then the answer is YES. You will need to call your utility company and ask to be added to their Priority Service Register – you will find their number on the back of your bill.

Once on the register, you’ll be able to access free services including:

  • Free safety checks of your gas appliances

  • Meter reading

  • Moving meters if yours is not in a convenient place

  • Password scheme to protect you against bogus callers

  • Special controls and adapters to make appliances easier to use

  • Advanced notice of planned supply interruptions

  • Special help if your gas supply is disrupted

  • Bill nominee scheme

  • Special services for visually or hearing impaired customers
