Local People Creating Local Power All local people can now benefit
from electricity and heat through renewable energy, thanks to the
Countryside Agency's Community Renewables Initiative. It has 10
local support teams across the England, and is supported by the
DTI, DEFRA, the Forestry Commission and other industry bodies.
In the South East members of the team include the Kent Energy Centre,
Creative Environmental Networks and the County Councils in Surrey
and Kent. These teams help local communities by providing grant assistance
for certain technologies.
Projects could include solar roofs, wood heat schemes and small
to medium wind turbines for a group of houses or places like schools,
hospitals, offices, shops, farms, community halls, and housing developments.
If you are in Kent, Surrey and the London Borough of Croydon call
the REACH project team on 020 8683 6671 and order your free support
pack. If you are outside of these areas, please check here to see if there is a local support team
for your area.
